Peter Obi Alleges Government Plot to Block 2027 Bid

Peter Obi 2027 election allegation surfaces as the former presidential candidate claims the Federal Government is trying to block his presidential bid

Former presidential candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has alleged that the Federal Government is working to prevent him from participating in the 2027 presidential election, calling for a transparent and credible electoral process.

The Peter Obi 2027 election allegation was made during an address to a group of Nigerians in a video, where the former Anambra State governor reflected on his political journey and past challenges, including legal battles and political setbacks.

Obi said he has faced years of political isolation, claiming he endured periods where allies abandoned him during critical moments in his career.

“I have been in this very difficult business where people abandoned you completely for one election. I spent three years in court and no one followed me there,” he said.

He further recalled experiences of impeachment and political displacement, stating that such events have strengthened his resolve for future contests.

“I have been impeached, returned to my village where no one wanted to see me, and removed from office twice,” he added.

Obi argued that these experiences have prepared him for further political struggles, insisting that he is not new to adversity.

“So there is nothing I will not see again. All these things being said about me are not new,” he stated.

In a more pointed claim, Obi alleged that efforts are underway within the Federal Government to obstruct his presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria does not want me to contest in the 2027 presidential election. We are not asking for much. They already have the governors and ministers; we are only asking for a free and fair election,” he said.

He also suggested that those in power have broader access to influential global networks, contrasting it with his own political limitations.

“They have all the contacts. They know the queen and the king, while we do not. They have everything,” he added.
