The endorsement, announced on Wednesday, was backed by 20 out of the 26 lawmakers in the state legislature, signalling a significant political alignment ahead of the next general election.
Speaking on behalf of the legislators at the Iwe-Iroyin Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Abeokuta, Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff Abiodun said the decision was based on Senator Adeola’s experience and contributions to both Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
He described the endorsement as a collective position of the Assembly, adding that lawmakers were united in their support for the senator’s gubernatorial ambition.
“I am also using this opportunity to declare our unalloyed support for the gubernatorial bid of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola,” Abiodun stated.
The latest endorsement comes shortly after the same lawmakers publicly backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, aligning themselves with several political stakeholders across the country who have expressed support for the president’s second-term ambition.
