Akpe made the remark during a reception held in his honour at the Government House in Yenagoa.
He emphasised that his appointment was not the result of political manoeuvring but divine intervention.
“But let me make it clear that I have not gone to lobby for any position, including this one. Most of the influential Bayelsa men are here. If I had ever told you to lobby for me, please say it here,” he said.
The deputy governor added that throughout his life, he had relied on God to guide his path rather than seeking positions of power.
He described the office as an opportunity to serve the people of Bayelsa with greater commitment and dedication.
Akpe also expressed gratitude to Governor Douye Diri for the confidence reposed in him, as well as to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly and his constituency for their support.
