PDP Reinstates Samuel Anyanwu After Leadership Consensus

PDP reinstates Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary following party consensus and cancels NEC meeting for expanded caucus engagement on June 30

The PDP reinstates Samuel Anyanwu to his position as National Secretary after a high-level decision reached by party leadership, ending weeks of internal uncertainty.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Damagum, during a press conference in Abuja.

Damagum was joined by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other party stakeholders.

The reinstatement of Anyanwu, who had been in contention over his position, followed what Damagum described as a “critical but majority-supported resolution” by the National Working Committee (NWC) and organs of the party.

Anyanwu is resuming as the National Secretary. That is why I said it was a critical decision, Damagum stated. Like INEC said they don’t have our notice, so what we will have on June 30 is an extended Caucus.

The acting chairman also announced the cancellation of the proposed National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally scheduled for later this month.

He said the party would instead convene an expanded caucus meeting on June 30, where strategic decisions would be taken ahead of a properly convened NEC gathering.

Observers believe the resolution may help ease tensions within the PDP, particularly after weeks of speculations over the National Secretary position and internal party divisions.
