Oyo APC governorship ticket race heats up as over 15 aspirants, including Folarin and Adelabu, compete ahead of the 2027 elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State is witnessing intensified political competition as more than 15 aspirants from across the state’s three senatorial districts vie for the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Oyo APC governorship ticket race has drawn a high-profile lineup of contenders, including former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin, Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Senator Fatai Buhari, and former Minister Chief Bayo Shittu, among others, signalling a highly competitive internal contest within the party.
Other aspirants in the widening field include Honourable Remi Oseni and Prince Musediq Adelakun, son of the late Ibadan political figure Chief Busari Adelakun, alongside several others seeking the party’s endorsement.
Party leaders have consistently maintained that the APC is determined to end the eight-year dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, setting the stage for a strategic political showdown in 2027.
Speaking during his declaration, Prince Musediq Adelakun described his ambition as a divinely inspired mission anchored on what he called a “Renewed Hope and Vision” agenda aimed at improving governance and development across the state.
He outlined a policy direction focused on people-oriented development, stressing that his administration, if elected, would prioritise education, healthcare, agriculture, security, economic growth and social welfare.
Adelakun also pledged targeted support for youths, women and vulnerable groups through skills acquisition programmes, financial empowerment schemes and initiatives designed to promote self-reliance.
The Oyo APC governorship ticket race is expected to intensify in the coming months as aspirants continue consultations across party structures and political blocs ahead of the primaries.
