The meeting reportedly centred on political ambitions within the ruling party, with both politicians seeking support and alignment ahead of the party’s decision on its governorship candidate.

Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District and serves as Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, confirmed his meeting with President Tinubu in a social media post, describing it as a reflective engagement during the Easter season.

Alli highlighted discussions focused on leadership, governance, and national development, noting that the President emphasised service, unity and the responsibility of leadership to improve lives.

Senator Teslim Folarin, former Senate Leader and Agba-Akin Olubadan of Ibadanland, also confirmed his separate engagement with President Tinubu, describing it as a “father-to-son discussion” with the Nigerian leader.

The Oyo APC governorship aspirants Tinubu meeting underscores early political positioning within the party as stakeholders begin consultations ahead of the next election cycle.

Folarin and Alli are both considered influential figures within Oyo APC circles, with long-standing political careers and strong grassroots structures in the state.

Folarin previously served as Senate Leader between 2007 and 2011, while Alli has held multiple public offices, including Secretary to the Oyo State Government and Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area.
