Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, took the oath of allegiance and oath of office on Friday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Justice of Ekiti State, Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye.
The inauguration followed Oyebanji’s victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, where he secured 319,224 votes to win a second consecutive mandate.
Oyebanji becomes the first governor in Ekiti State, since its creation in 1996, to secure two consecutive terms in office.
At the inauguration, the governor pledged to build on the achievements of his first administration and deliver greater dividends of democracy to residents.
He is expected to focus his second-term agenda on areas including healthcare, electricity, roads, water supply, agriculture, human capital development and economic opportunities.
The administration has also identified further infrastructure development and rural development as key priorities for the new term.
The inauguration attracted senior political leaders, government officials and governors from across the country.
Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu at the ceremony.
Also in attendance were the governors of Kwara, Imo, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ondo and Jigawa states, alongside the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda.
Shettima had arrived in Ado-Ekiti earlier on Friday ahead of the inauguration.
Oyebanji’s second term marks the continuation of an administration that began in October 2022, following his successful re-election in June.
