Delta Governor’s Aide Olorogun Samson Resigns for 2027 Ambition

Olorogun Samson resignation: Delta State Governor Oborevwori’s aide steps down to contest Ughelli South Constituency seat in 2027 elections

In a resignation letter dated 2 March 2026 and shared publicly on Wednesday, Samson cited consultations, family discussions, and the need to focus fully on representing Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly as reasons for stepping down.

“With utmost respect and a heavy but hopeful heart, I write to formally tender my resignation as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State,” Samson wrote, noting that the accelerated electoral timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) necessitated his full attention.

Samson described his service in the Oborevwori administration as a privilege, expressing gratitude for the trust and leadership lessons received.

He emphasised that stepping aside was necessary to avoid any conflict between official duties and political ambitions.

“It is in the spirit of loyalty, transparency, and respect for your office that I choose to step aside at this time, so that my political pursuit will in no way conflict with my duties or bring any discomfort to your administration,” he added, pledging continued support for Governor Oborevwori.

The development follows a directive from Governor Oborevwori instructing all political appointees intending to contest elective positions in the 2027 elections to resign on or before 31 March 2026, in line with Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026.
