Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, announced the decision, insisting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate’s declaration as winner was fraudulent and contrary to due process.
Dungurawa argued that despite a peaceful re-run in the 10 polling units nullified by the Appeal Court, “unpatriotic politicians connived with INEC officials” to impose the APC candidate.
He faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission for declaring results at its state headquarters rather than the constituency collation center.
“In ideal circumstances, elections are supposed to be declared at the constituency collation center. Instead, INEC reverted to old results that had already been nullified in court,” he said.
The NNPP chairman stressed that presiding officers had signed election results at the polling units and therefore only they, not INEC headquarters, had the authority to cancel votes.
While commending the peaceful conduct of the Shanono/Bagwai by-election, where results were declared transparently at collation centers, Dungurawa said NNPP would not relent in fighting what he described as injustice, favoritism, and election manipulation in Kano.
“NNPP as a party will continue to fight against anybody who feels he can use the federal might to disenfranchise the good people of Kano State,” he declared.

He also appreciated the role of voters, stakeholders, and security agencies for providing an enabling environment during the elections, while maintaining that the party would pursue legal redress.
