NNPP Gombe chairman resignation confirmed as Kabir Makko quits party leadership and membership in a sudden political move in Gombe State
Kabir Makko has resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), stepping down as both a member and the Gombe State chairman of the party in Gombe State on March 23, 2026, in a move that has triggered political reactions within the state chapter.

The resignation was contained in a formal letter addressed to the Chairman of NNPP Akko Ward, where Kabir Makko announced his immediate withdrawal from the party after what he described as careful political consideration.
Kabir Makko also confirmed that his resignation covers his leadership role as Gombe State party chairman, effectively ending his tenure at the helm of the NNPP structure in the state.
The NNPP Gombe chairman resignation was communicated in clear terms, with Makko expressing appreciation to party members and stakeholders for their support during his period in office.
He noted that cooperation from colleagues had been instrumental throughout his leadership, adding a tone of gratitude despite the abrupt political departure.
Copies of his resignation letter were also sent to the NNPP National Chairman, formalising his exit from the party at both state and national levels.
