The publication, titled Nigeria Media Renaissance: GOCOP Perspective on Online Publishing, is an initiative of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).

According to Maureen Chigbo, President of GOCOP, the event will attract dignitaries across government, business, media, and international organisations.

“This landmark book reflects our collective commitment to journalistic excellence in the digital age. It also supports the development of our N2.3 billion GOCOP Media Centre,” Chigbo stated.

Alhaji Idris, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023, brings over three decades of expertise in broadcasting, publishing, PR, and advertising.

A graduate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and Bayero University, he founded key media platforms including Blueprint Newspaper, WE FM, and Rapid Television.

He is a prominent member of professional bodies such as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN).

Through his consultancy firm, Bifocal Communications, and his charity, Mohammed Idris Malagi (MIM) Foundation, Idris has contributed significantly to media development and community service. In recognition, he holds the traditional title of Kaakaki Nupe.

A press release by GOCOP’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, confirmed that proceeds from the book will be used to develop a multi-purpose GOCOP Media Centre, comprising a digital library, event halls, and administrative spaces.
