APC Chairman Yilwatda Hails Tinubu’s Leadership, Party Growth

APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda praises Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting party growth, discipline, and economic reforms as pillars of national stability

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has affirmed that the ruling party will continue to strengthen due to its solid structure, dynamic leadership, loyal followership, and effective crisis-resolution mechanisms.

Speaking to reporters in Lagos, Yilwatda said opposition parties, individually or collectively, lack the cohesion and stability that have driven APC’s growth.

He paid tribute to the founding fathers of the party, particularly national leader President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for providing a rallying point that opposition parties do not possess.

“President Tinubu was the rallying point for APC. He put in his money and connections at no interest. Everybody called him leader. You can’t find that in the coalition,” Yilwatda said.

He described Tinubu as a “true and focused leader, an intelligent leader” whose guidance has stabilised the party and Nigeria at large.

The chairman highlighted the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms, including fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange liberalisation, saying these measures have strengthened Nigeria’s productivity.

“Nigeria was on the verge of total economic collapse when President Tinubu came in. Now, $45 billion of foreign reserves have been attained. Nigeria is becoming productive, doing more exports,” he said.

Yilwatda also cited social interventions under the APC-led government, including conditional cash transfers to over six million people, free treatment for tuberculosis and snake bites, and the students’ loan scheme, which enables children from poor households to access education.

He praised the administration’s infrastructure projects, especially road construction, and reforms in the aviation sector.

Addressing party discipline and membership verification, Yilwatda stressed adherence to APC nomination guidelines in Ekiti and Osun states, highlighting that the party is committed to democratic cohesion and internal accountability.

“We are updating our register and ensuring all aspirants comply with our rules,” he said.

On the political front, Yilwatda revealed that Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has expressed interest in joining the APC.

He also noted that ambassadorial appointments consider international requests, personal networks, and national interest.

He concluded by stating that APC’s mission extends beyond winning elections.

“We are expanding our reach ahead of 2027. APC is about serving Nigerians, not just securing power,” Yilwatda said.
