Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan office unsealed after suspension

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Senate office unsealed after suspension ends, signalling her return despite tensions with Senate leadership.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan office unsealed at the National Assembly on Tuesday morning, marking a significant development in the ongoing tensions between the embattled senator and the leadership of the Senate.

The office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was officially reopened by the Sergeant at Arms, accompanied by a team of combined security personnel, as reported by Channels Television.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, had been suspended for six months by the Senate in March 2025 over alleged misconduct.

Her offence stemmed from a protest on 20 February 2025, when she publicly objected to the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Although her suspension formally ended in September, she remained unable to resume legislative duties due to unresolved legal disputes and continued resistance from Senate authorities.

A week prior to the reopening, Akpoti-Uduaghan had written to the Senate to declare her intention to resume, but her letter was rebuffed by the upper chamber.

The move to unseal her office now signals a possible shift in tone—or at the very least, an acknowledgement of the legal expiration of her suspension.

However, her full return to Senate proceedings may still face procedural or political hurdles.
