This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Usman Iskilu-Saleh, during a press briefing on Tuesday in Lafia.

According to the Nasarawa Governor’s healthcare roadmap, the investment forms part of a long-term strategy to revitalise at least one functional primary healthcare centre in each of the 147 wards of the state by 2027.

Iskilu-Saleh revealed that 58 facilities previously revamped under a World Bank-supported programme have been completed.

Additionally, nine more are being funded by the state, six by the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and another nine by UNICEF.

He added that human resource gaps were being addressed through the recruitment of 2,237 new health workers, including nurses, midwives, community health extension workers, pharmacy technicians, laboratory staff, and doctors.

Recruitment rounds in 2023 and 2025 contributed to this strengthened workforce.

New equipment to be purchased includes blood pressure monitors, glucometers, thermometers, weighing scales, ultrasound scanners, centrifuges, microscopes, and essential drugs, all of which are expected to significantly improve service delivery.

“These interventions have not only improved public confidence in the health system but have also positioned Nasarawa as a model for primary healthcare delivery nationwide,” said Iskilu-Saleh.
