APC Chieftains Raise Alarm Over Alleged Rigging Plot in Nasarawa

Nasarawa APC primaries rigging allegation emerges as party chieftains accuse officials of bias and call for intervention ahead of primaries

Prominent chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State, Zamani Daniel and Ibrahim Tukur, have raised serious concerns over what they describe as a possible attempt to manipulate the party’s upcoming primaries in favour of selected aspirants.

APC rigging allegation was made in a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, where the party leaders accused certain officials of alleged compromise, intimidation, and bias ahead of the exercise.

Daniel and Tukur warned that the credibility of the internal electoral process was at risk, claiming that pressure was being exerted on party officials at state, local government, and ward levels to align with a preferred political direction.

Their concerns come amid reports that Governor Sule Abdullahi has reportedly adopted Senator Ahmed Wadada as his preferred candidate for the governorship race, a development they say has heightened tensions within the party.

According to the chieftains, the situation has created unease among other aspirants who fear they may not be given a fair opportunity during the primaries.

They argued that the current arrangement could undermine internal democracy and erode confidence in the party’s selection process.

They called on the National Secretary of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene by deploying independent electoral officials, insisting that those currently overseeing the process lack the neutrality required to conduct a credible exercise.

In their statement, they also alleged that there were clandestine political meetings and claims of external influence aimed at shaping the outcome of the governorship race, accusations they described as deeply troubling.
