A Plateau PDP coalition rallies in Jos urging a Mutfwang APC defection, calling it vital for federal alignment and state development
A coalition of Peoples Democratic Party members on Monday in Jos called for a Mutfwang APC defection as they urged Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to join the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The rally, held at the State Secretariat Junction, drew party figures from all 17 local government areas, including former Jos South PDP chairman Dung Tari.
Leader of the coalition Christopher Danjem told the crowd that the governor’s move to the APC would serve the wider interests of Plateau residents.
Danjem said the group valued the governor’s performance in office and believed closer alignment with President Bola Tinubu would enable the state to attract more federal projects.
He highlighted the President’s goodwill towards Plateau, referencing the recent condolence visit by First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu after a series of attacks in the state.
Following the event, the coalition proceeded to the Rayfield Government House, where senior government officials, led by Chief of Staff Jeremiah Satmark, received them.
Danjem presented a formal letter requesting the governor’s defection and urged the officials to convey the appeal.
Satmark thanked the delegation for what he described as a significant show of civic engagement. He explained that Governor Mutfwang was attending a Northern Governors’ Forum meeting in Kaduna but had mandated senior aides to receive the group on his behalf.
The Chief of Staff recalled that the governor had previously said his political decisions would be guided by divine direction and the will of Plateau people.
Satmark added that the governor, widely regarded as a transformative leader, would carefully consider the request in the spirit of strengthening cooperation between the state and the Federal Government.

He assured the group that the message would be delivered and that they would receive a response in due course.
