Oshiomhole’s remark linking Atiku to APC campaign strategy sparks reactions as senator claims opposition attacks are boosting the ruling party
Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has become, in his words, the “best campaign manager” of the All Progressives Congress, APC, due to his recent political criticisms of opposition figures.

Adams Oshiomhole made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he suggested that Atiku Abubakar’s public attacks on rival politicians were indirectly benefiting the ruling party.
Oshiomhole’s remark on Atiku as APC campaign booster came as the senator argued that the APC had no cause for concern over opposition platforms such as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
“You mean that APC would be worried about ADC, NDC? I saw Atiku, he is now our best campaign manager because he is attacking Obi, and I see Obi attacking Amaechi,” Adams Oshiomhole said.
The senator’s remarks referenced ongoing political tensions between key opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, who have been vocal in recent political exchanges.
Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi previously ran on the same presidential ticket before later parting ways following Obi’s defection to the Labour Party, where he contested the 2023 presidential election.
In January 2026, Peter Obi reportedly aligned with Atiku again under the ADC platform before moving to the NDC a few days ago, reflecting ongoing shifts within Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
Political observers believe Peter Obi may contest the presidency alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso on the NDC platform in the next general election cycle.
