The attack claimed several lives, including those of local vigilantes and the Baale of Ogbayo, leaving residents in mourning.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday by its Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the People’s Democratic Party described the massacre as “a despicable and senseless act” and pointed to what it called a monumental leadership failure by the governor.
“The gruesome videos of the casualties circulating online make it look like Kwara is now at war.
Under AbdulRahman’s watch, terror is reigning, kidnappers are taking over rural villages, and nowhere is safe again,” the statement read.
The Kwara PDP accuses Governor AbdulRazaq not only of silence over the killings but also of neglecting to visit the affected community to show solidarity with grieving families or offer hope of a decisive government response.
The party also condemned the governor’s alleged diversion of security funds to “footballers and entertainers outside the state,” while abandoning local vigilantes and frontline security teams “battling criminals in the bush.”
Tensions remain high in Kwara North, where similar attacks have displaced entire communities and shut down local economies.
The International Gbugbu Market remains closed, and multiple roads across the Patigi–Gbugbu–Lafiagi–Tsaragi–Bacita axis have become notorious for ambushes by bandits.
Adding to the public outcry, the Nupe Descendants Union joined calls for urgent action. Speaking in Ilorin, NDU President Alhaji Shuaibu Mohammed said: “Our people live a life of uncertainty; they cannot sleep with their eyes closed.
Lives and properties are wasted, farmlands are no longer accessible, and commercial activities have been paralysed.”
The Kwara PDP accuses Governor AbdulRazaq at a time when many residents feel abandoned by the state.
The Oke-Ode killings mark yet another grim chapter in a growing list of violent incidents that have rocked Edu, Patigi, Moro, and Ifelodun LGAs in recent months.

With pressure mounting, citizens and community leaders continue to demand a more hands-on approach from the governor—calling for visible leadership, rapid security interventions, and a comprehensive rural development plan to stem the tide of insecurity.
