Nwosu predicts two-horse race in Anambra 2025 poll

ADC’s John Nwosu says the Anambra 2025 governorship election will be a two-horse race between his party and the APC-APGA alliance.

Anambra Governorship Election 2025 will be a decisive two-horse race, according to Mr John Chuma Nwosu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, who dismissed other contenders as non-factors in the November 8 poll.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Nwosu said the ADC and a united bloc of APC and APGA, which he referred to as APCGA, were the only serious players in the race.

He described the merger of the ruling parties as a coalition of past disappointments, especially in areas of security and citizens’ welfare.

“Campaigns are going on and I can tell you authoritatively that there are only two real alternatives. The APCGA and the ADC,” Nwosu stated.

He urged Nigerians to watch the Anambra election closely as a benchmark for evaluating INEC’s preparedness, especially with the anticipated exit of Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

Nwosu criticised the record of the current state government, claiming that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s alignment with the APC had done little to improve the state’s critical security and economic issues.

“The outgoing governor declared that progressives are working together. APC and APGA have become one—and united in failure,” he said.

The ADC, he added, is running on a seven-point agenda focused on security, health, education, economy, environment, markets, and social welfare.

Nwosu also defended his running mate, Dr Ndubuisi Nwobu, as a balanced choice based on religious inclusivity and the zoning arrangement across Anambra’s three senatorial districts.

He promised to serve only the remaining four years due for Anambra South.

“Our government will prioritise insecurity and over-taxation, which are the top concerns for Anambra residents,” Nwosu said.

Drawing on his private-sector experience, he said he would govern Anambra with the focus and discipline required to deliver tangible results.

“Just like Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu, I believe a commercial state like Anambra requires proper planning and business-minded leadership,” he noted.

He concluded by stressing the importance of the election amid Nigeria’s broader economic challenges, saying the poll presents an opportunity for Anambra to choose competent leadership in difficult times.
