The exercise was conducted as part of the party’s internal preparations ahead of its forthcoming primaries, aimed at selecting candidates across the 24 state constituencies.

According to findings from the screening committee, applications from over one hundred aspirants were reviewed under strict vetting procedures covering eligibility, political standing, and compliance with party guidelines.

However, about 105 aspirants were not cleared to proceed to the next stage of the selection process. The party has yet to release a detailed breakdown of the criteria that informed the disqualifications.

The screening reportedly involved both incumbent lawmakers and first-time contenders, reflecting the competitive nature of the upcoming primaries.

The outcome has already sparked conversations within party circles, with stakeholders awaiting further clarification from the state leadership on the process and its implications.
