Kebbi council suspension as APC removes Birnin Kebbi chairman Dahiru Ambursa over alleged misconduct that party leaders say harmed unity and public trust
The All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State has suspended the Chairman of Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, Alhaji Dahiru Ambursa, from the party with immediate effect over alleged misconduct and actions said to undermine party unity.

The suspension was communicated in a letter signed by the Kebbi Central Zonal Vice Chairman of the APC, Abubakar Bello, and released to journalists on Monday.
The letter said the decision followed what the party described as credible reports and findings accusing Alhaji Dahiru Ambursa of abusing his office and engaging in conduct capable of ridiculing, embarrassing and causing disunity within the party.
Party leaders said the alleged actions violated Article 21(2)(ii) of the APC Constitution, 2022 as amended, which outlines offences relating to anti party activities and misconduct by party members.
“As part of the disciplinary measures, you are hereby directed to refrain from entering any APC office for the duration of your suspension,” the letter stated.
The party warned that any continuation or repetition of the alleged behaviour during the suspension period could attract stiffer sanctions, including possible expulsion.
Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, is regarded as one of the most politically significant local government areas in Kebbi State, and developments involving its leadership often have wider implications for party cohesion and grassroots mobilisation.
The Kebbi council suspension comes amid rising internal tensions within the APC in the state, as party leaders move to enforce discipline ahead of future electoral contests.
In recent months, the party has repeatedly said it will sanction officials found culpable of actions capable of weakening internal unity or undermining public confidence.
