Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, describing the opposition as weak and lacking credible alternatives.

The prediction was made on Tuesday during interactions with journalists at the National Assembly, where the senator marked his 66th birthday.
Orji Uzor Kalu said the ruling All Progressives Congress remains strong and continues to expand its support base across the country.
He described the APC as a “moving train”, insisting that its growing influence positions it ahead of rival parties going into the next general election.
According to him, increasing defections into the party reflect voluntary political alignment rather than coercion or pressure from the presidency.
Kalu maintained that President Bola Tinubu has never forced any politician to join the APC, stressing that membership decisions remain voluntary.
He added that negotiations within the party are based on mutual agreement and political alignment.
The senator also dismissed concerns about alleged marginalisation of the South-East, stating that successive administrations have contributed to national development.
Orji Uzor Kalu further argued that both former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Tinubu have made meaningful contributions to governance.
On economic reforms, he acknowledged challenges at the grassroots level but said macroeconomic indicators show gradual improvement.
He noted that foreign investors are returning, though insecurity and other structural issues continue to affect progress.
Kalu also defended the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, rejecting claims that the ruling party influences its operations.
He described such allegations as damaging to Nigeria’s democratic image and urged respect for institutions.
