Idris made the appeal on Friday while monitoring the devolution of the voter registration exercise, a strategy designed to bring registration services closer to communities and promote inclusiveness.
“We are committed to ensuring that every eligible citizen in Gombe State has the opportunity to register. That is why we have taken the CVR exercise closer to the people at the Registration Area level,” Idris said during a visit to the Gombe Area Office.
Accompanied by the acting Administrative Secretary, Fadimatu Bakari, and other management staff, Idris visited the Bolari East Registration Area, addressing prospective registrants and urging them to remain orderly while officials processed applications.
“We appeal to prospective registrants to remain calm and orderly. Our officials are working diligently to ensure that everyone is captured in the system,” he added.
The monitoring tour also included visits to Bogo Primary School in Akko Local Government Area, Billiri Area Office, Banganje South RA in Billiri, Gwani/Shinga/Wade RA in Yamaltu-Deba, and Daban Fulani RA in Kwami Local Government Area, where turnout was high.
Some residents requested the extension of registration days and additional devices to reduce waiting times.
Responding to these requests, Idris assured that the commission would continue reviewing operational logistics to improve efficiency.
“We have taken note of the requests for additional days and more registration machines. The commission will continue to assess the situation and make necessary adjustments to improve the process,” he said.
