INEC Confirms Mock Trial for BVAS Ahead of FCT Polls

INEC confirms conducting a mock trial of the BVAS in 289 polling units across FCT to validate election data before submission

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that it carried out a mock trial of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) across 289 polling units in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) prior to the recent Area Council elections.

Deputy Director of Information and Publicity, Wilfred Ifogah, explained during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that the exercise tested BVAS updates and ensured that the system could validate voter data accurately.

“If the scanned EC8A form containing tabulated results does not match the accredited voter numbers in BVAS, the system will not process the submission until the figures are verified,” Ifogah said.

He added that this updated feature goes beyond capturing and transmitting images, enabling BVAS to validate scanned information against pre-recorded data, ensuring the integrity of the election process.
