The seizure follows El-Rufai’s N1 billion fundamental rights suit challenging his alleged illegal arrest, detention, and the search of his residence, which was recently rejected by the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
Court filings on Monday, 2 March 2026, revealed the scope of items collected for forensic analysis.
ICPC stated that officials, accompanied by the Police, carried out the operation in the presence of El-Rufai’s wife, Hadiza, and his son, Mohammed. The items documented and sealed included:
Records of domestic and foreign loans approved by the Kaduna State House of Assembly (2015–2023)
Interim investigation reports involving El-Rufai and associates
Documents linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) welfare secretary
Irrevocable Powers of Attorney for multiple properties
Afri-Venture Capital Company documents and investor account statements
Asset declaration forms, land documents, corporate compliance records, and KYC files
Ecobank Nigeria Plc share certificates and student financial services papers
Valuation reports, deeds of assignment, payment mandates, and media/publicity materials
A detailed Device Documentation Form captured serial numbers, types, storage details, and accessories of all gadgets seized, according to the ICPC.
Reacting to the developments, Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai described the ICPC’s claims as “a blatant lie,” accusing the commission of conducting a “circus of chicanery.”
He urged Nigerians to respect the constitutional right to silence and pray for peace amid the ongoing investigation.
