Bauchi Ex-Governor Isa Yuguda Accuses Minister Yusuf Tuggar of Damaging APC Unity

Yuguda Tuggar APC Bauchi crisis deepens as Isa Yuguda accuses minister Yusuf Tuggar of fuelling division and undermining party unity in Bauchi

Former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda on Wednesday accused the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, of fuelling internal divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC), as tensions escalated over allegations of bribery, political interference and a deepening party crisis in the state.

The Yuguda Tuggar APC Bauchi crisis intensified following a petition reportedly submitted to the APC national secretariat against the former governor, prompting a sharp response from his camp, which dismissed the allegations as a “desperate” smear campaign linked to a disputed state congress.

Yuguda’s media office, in a statement signed by Dapo Okubanjo, alleged that $150,000 was used to influence members of the party’s national delegation in an attempt to override grassroots decisions and tilt control of the APC structure in favour of the foreign affairs minister.

The statement described the alleged actions as a threat to party cohesion in a strategically important state, warning that such developments could undermine President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” political agenda.

The former governor, a two-term leader of Bauchi State, also expressed disappointment over what he described as a breakdown in his long-standing political relationship with Tuggar, recalling his support for the minister’s early political career, including his entry into the House of Representatives in 2007.

The Yuguda Tuggar APC Bauchi crisis has further taken a personal turn, with Yuguda’s camp accusing the minister of engaging in “character assassination” and sowing discord within the party structure.

Despite the escalating tensions, Yuguda maintained a conciliatory tone, insisting he would not engage in “politics of division and pettiness” and reaffirming his commitment to the APC and President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

He also urged restraint, arguing that individuals in national positions should focus on broader governance responsibilities rather than internal party disputes.

As the controversy continues to unfold, political observers say the rift could have wider implications for APC stability in Bauchi State ahead of the next election cycle.
