Osun APC Accuses Governor Adeleke of Biased Development

Osun APC accuses Governor Adeleke of favouring Ede in development projects and ignoring federal airport directives

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of concentrating development projects in his hometown, Ede, and defying a Federal Government directive to suspend relocation of the Osun State International Airport.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, described the Adeleke administration as “incorrigible and selfish without any consideration for the even development of all the towns making up the state.”

The party alleged that while several roads in Ede have been dualised or are undergoing construction, “no meaningful developmental project is noticeable in other towns and villages in Osun State under the administration of Governor Adeleke.”

The APC also questioned the silence of the State House of Assembly and highlighted a letter dated December 6, 2024, from the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, signed by Permanent Secretary Dr Emmanuel D. Meribole.

The letter instructed the suspension of the airport foundation-laying until petitions regarding the existing airstrip were resolved and coordination with the federal government ensured.

“An answer to the query would help to douse the existing tension in the state in this regard,” Olabisi said, calling on the governor to clarify whether N10 billion had been allocated to continue the airport project.

Responding through spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke denied the allegations, asserting that infrastructure projects are evenly distributed across Osun State.

Rasheed highlighted ongoing works in Ile Ife, Ilesa, Iwo, Ikirun, Ila, and Osogbo.

He cited commendations from the Obalufon of Ile Ife for the N14 billion flyover and dualisation projects executed in the town.

On the airport controversy, Rasheed emphasised that “Ido Osun remains an airstrip housing the Air Force training centre and the proposed airstrip by the Federal Government,” insisting that the administration remains committed to lawful and inclusive development.
