Goodluck Jonathan Urged to Contest 2027 Election by Tsado

Goodluck Jonathan 2027 presidential election bid urged by Mathias Tsado, who says Jonathan’s return is vital to solving Nigeria’s security and economic woes

Goodluck Jonathan 2027 presidential election prospects were revived Tuesday as a former presidential candidate, Mathias Tsado, called on close associates of the ex-president to persuade him to run in the upcoming polls.

Tsado, who contested under the Liberation Movement in 2019 and was previously affiliated with the Action Democratic Party, made the appeal during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

According to him, Jonathan remains Nigeria’s best hope for navigating the country’s worsening economic and security landscape.

“We need him back in 2027. This is not about politics but about saving Nigeria. He has the experience, the temperament, and the vision to bring our country back from the brink,” he said.

Tsado described Jonathan as a unifying figure, noting that his presidency left behind strong democratic values and critical reforms.

He argued that Jonathan’s leadership style is well-suited to calming national tensions and revitalising the economy.

He added, “Those around him should speak to him with one voice. Nigeria needs him more than ever. His leadership style is what can calm tensions and redirect the economy.”

Although Goodluck Jonathan has not made any public indication of interest in the 2027 presidential race, political observers have continued to speculate about his potential return to national politics.

Tsado’s statement adds weight to a growing list of voices calling for Jonathan to consider another run.
