The event, held at Mgboko Umuanunu Ancient Kingdom, attracted notable political figures including immediate past Governor of Abia State and Nigerian Ambassador-designate Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, former Deputy Governor Dr. Chris Akomas, and Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Emmanuel Emeruwa. Traditional rulers, community leaders, and beneficiaries also attended.
Dr. Ikpeazu praised Erondu Jnr for the initiative, describing it as a practical example of the “mustard seed principle” and commending the lawmaker’s purposeful leadership.
“This programme reflects service and sacrifice. Beneficiaries should make judicious use of the items received,” he said.
Dr. Akomas also lauded Erondu Jnr’s commitment to grassroots development, announcing additional financial support to sustain the empowerment initiatives.
Speaker Emeruwa described the programme as unprecedented in Abia State, urging recipients to use the resources productively.
Chief Raymond Aliga, Chairman at the event, highlighted Erondu Jnr’s inclusive representation and dedication to transcending party lines.
Erondu Jnr, Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service Matters in the Abia State House of Assembly, said the empowerment was a strategic investment in human capital, not charity.
“This programme strengthens education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and economic development. It is part of a long-term vision for inclusive growth,” he stated.
The empowerment featured a wide array of items, including motorcycles, mini-buses, buses, trucks, tippers, cars, laptops, desktop computers, generators, car wash machines, spraying and vulcanizing machines, and houses.
One beneficiary, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwankwo, received a brand-new Coaster bus on behalf of other recipients.
