The exercise, attended by 885 delegates from all 16 local government areas, endorsed Oyebanji after the only other cleared aspirant, Mrs Atinuke Omolayo, voluntarily withdrew.
The special nomination congress was supervised by a 10-member committee chaired by Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, with Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo as deputy chairman.
Senator Opeyemi Bamidele moved the motion for Oyebanji’s ratification, which was seconded by Rt Hon Adeoye Stephen, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
“I am honoured and appreciative of this rare privilege which you are giving for the second time,” Oyebanji said, dedicating the victory to God and thanking party stakeholders and President Bola Tinubu for their support.
The governor described the event as a historic milestone in Ekiti’s political history, signaling unity and political maturity within the APC.
He pledged to continue serving the people and consolidating the gains of his administration.
Heavy security was deployed around the venue, with the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, and NSCDC ensuring a smooth and secure process. Former Governor Kayode Fayemi also lauded the exercise as a reflection of unity and maturity in the party.
