Atiku Camp Slams Malicious Fayose Negotiation Claims

Atiku Camp Slams Fayose Negotiation Claims, dismissing alleged 2027 vice-presidential talks with Governor Seyi Makinde as false

The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday in Abuja rejected allegations made by former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, describing claims of secret political negotiations ahead of the 2027 elections as false and malicious.

Atiku Camp Slams Fayose Negotiation Claims followed a statement posted by Ayodele Fayose on his verified X account on Wednesday.

Ayodele Fayose had alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde agreed to leave the Peoples Democratic Party for the African Democratic Congress on condition of emerging as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in 2027.

Ayodele Fayose titled the statement, “Between Atiku and Makinde, Untold Story of What Happened in Minna Yesterday,” and claimed that Governor Seyi Makinde met Atiku Abubakar in Minna, Niger State, on Tuesday for what Ayodele Fayose described as a carefully arranged meeting to secure “confidence and acceptability”.

Responding in a statement issued in Abuja, Atiku Abubakar’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, dismissed the account as a reckless fabrication.

Phrank Shaibu described the report as a shameless concoction and denied that Atiku Abubakar engaged in any political bargaining as alleged.

“At no time did former Vice President Atiku Abubakar engage in the imaginary horse-trading described in that laughable script,” Phrank Shaibu said.

Phrank Shaibu specifically refuted claims of negotiations over a vice-presidential ticket, alleged ₦10 billion contributions, zoning arrangements, delegate guarantees, or any clandestine meeting in Dubai.

“There were no negotiations over vice-presidential tickets. There were no discussions about ₦10 billion contributions. There were no zoning manipulations,” Phrank Shaibu stated.

“There were no delegate-delivery guarantees. And there is certainly no clandestine ‘Dubai meeting’ on any such agenda.”

Phrank Shaibu accused Ayodele Fayose of attempting to draw other political actors into what he termed a fabricated narrative designed to generate controversy.

“The story is not insider information. It is insider fiction, manufactured to mislead, distract, and provoke,” Phrank Shaibu said.

Phrank Shaibu added that Atiku Abubakar’s political engagements remain broad-based and national in outlook rather than transactional.

The statement urged members of the public to disregard the claims and treat the publication with what it described as the contempt it deserves.
