Atiku’s Aide Accuses APC Government of Institutionalising Forged Documents

Atiku Abubakar’s aide Paul Ibe accuses the Tinubu-led APC government of institutionalising the use of forged documents in Nigeria’s electoral process

A media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Paul Ibe, has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of institutionalising document forgery within Nigeria’s electoral system.

In a statement shared on his verified X handle, Ibe alleged that the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government had repeatedly engaged in what he described as forgery across several sectors.

According to him, the alleged acts of forgery involve areas such as tax reforms, electoral amendments, academic credentials and federal government projects.

“What the Tinubu-led APC administration cannot forge does not exist,” Ibe stated.

He further claimed that certain tax reform laws and the Electoral Amendment Act 2026 were manipulated.

Ibe also referenced a February 2026 report by Premium Times and Tracka which allegedly flagged 92 federal government projects as “ghost projects.”

The Atiku aide additionally alleged that documents required for election qualification — including school certificates and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates — had been subject to forgery.

According to him, the government has now adopted the presentation of forged documents as what he described as a “policy of the state.”

“By this law, it is now legal to present forged documents for consideration as an aspirant and candidate in the 2027 primaries and general elections,” he said.
