APC Plateau primary election winners emerge as Lalong, Gagdi and others secure tickets in peaceful National Assembly primaries ahead of 2027 polls
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has concluded its National Assembly primary elections in Plateau State, producing former governor and senator representing Plateau South, Simon Bako Lalong, alongside key lawmakers Yusuf Gagdi and Idris Wase as some of the major winners in the exercise held on Tuesday.

The primary election victories were officially announced by the Chairman of the state APC Primary Election Committee, Stella Okotete, who declared the process peaceful, transparent and conducted in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
In the senatorial contests, Simon Mwadkwon clinched the ticket for Plateau North Senatorial District, while Bitrus David Barji defeated incumbent Senator Diket Plang to emerge as the candidate for Plateau Central Senatorial District.
In the House of Representatives races, Yusuf Gagdi retained his position for Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke, while Idris Wase secured the ticket for Wase Federal Constituency.
Other notable winners included Dalyop Fom for Barkin Ladi/Riyom and former legislator Dachung Bagos, who won the Jos South/Jos East ticket after defeating his opponents.
The winners list also featured Beni Lar for Langtang North/Langtang South and Joe Dashe for Shendam/Qua’an Pan/Mikang Federal Constituency, marking a competitive but largely orderly exercise across the state.
Stella Okotete praised party members, aspirants, and delegates for their conduct, noting that the primaries were peaceful and credible, with all procedures followed strictly in accordance with party rules.
She urged stakeholders to remain united following the conclusion of the primaries, stressing that internal cohesion would be essential as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

According to her, the APC must now focus on strengthening unity and consolidating its support base to ensure success at the polls, while also commending the leadership of the party in Plateau State for its cooperation throughout the process.
