APC Defers Osun Primary to Elders’ Council Gudiance

 APC defers Osun governorship primary to Elders’ Council, ensuring unity and transparency ahead of 13 December 2025 vote.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, 3 December 2025, announced it will defer to the Elders’ Council in Osun State to determine the outcome of the forthcoming governorship primary scheduled for Saturday, 13 December 2025.

The declaration was made by National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu during the submission of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms by leading gubernatorial aspirant Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Oyebamiji, accompanied by a delegation of state and national leaders, officials, and key stakeholders, submitted his forms at exactly 5:00 p.m., outlining his 28-year banking career, tenure as Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), two terms as Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, and recent role as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) as evidence of his administrative capabilities.

Argungu, represented by Deputy National Organising Secretary Nze Chidi Duru, emphasised the strategic importance of Osun State and the necessity of respecting the guidance of the Elders’ Council.

“Osun is crucial in the South West and a state we must firmly have in our fold before the 2027 general election.The President has a special interest in the State; therefore, we must get it right,” he stated, urging all aspirants and supporters to maintain peace.

Earlier, APC National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashir, who recently withdrew from the race, highlighted the party’s determination to secure a decisive victory in Osun, calling for unity among members to deliver strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Dignitaries present at the submission included Deputy National Chairman (South) Chief Emma Eneukwu, National Vice Chairman (North Central) Muazu Bawa Rijau, National Publicity Secretary Barr. Felix Morka, National Welfare Officer Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, and Deputy National Secretary Barr. Festus Fuanter.

The event underscored the APC’s commitment to a transparent and inclusive primary process while demonstrating Oyebamiji’s readiness for leadership and public service.
