Anambra 2025 Governorship Election Heats Up as Opponents Slam Soludo’s ‘No Challenger’ Remark

Anambra 2025 governorship election turns tense as Soludo claims he has no challengers. APC, LP, and AAC candidates call it disrespectful and misleading

Anambra 2025 governorship election tensions escalated this week as opposition candidates from the APC, Labour Party, and AAC fiercely criticized Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) over his recent claim that he faces no real opposition in the race.

During a rally in Awka, Soludo declared that his rivals are merely in the race for “fundraising” purposes, claiming APGA remains unchallenged in Anambra politics.

“They are not contesting; they are only doing fundraising,” Soludo said, igniting swift backlash.

Reacting, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, spokesperson for APC candidate Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, described Soludo’s remarks as disrespectful and dismissive.

“You cannot claim to have no opposition when Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife are actively working to unseat you,” Awogu stated.

He accused Soludo of misusing state funds for his campaign, while Ukachukwu allegedly finances his from personal resources.

Awogu challenged Soludo to publish his financial history prior to becoming CBN Governor and questioned the quality of infrastructure under his leadership. “Anambra has never witnessed this level of retrogression,” he added.

From the Labour Party, Onyebuchi Okoye, media aide to candidate Dr. George Moghalu, argued that Soludo’s administration has failed Anambra people.

“Moghalu offers real leadership with a clear, practical master plan. This election is not about oratory. It is about results,” Okoye asserted.

He emphasized Moghalu’s pledge to serve only one term, stressing that four years should be enough for a capable leader to deliver.

Meanwhile, Chioma Ifemeludike, the AAC candidate, insisted that she is a serious contender.

She condemned Soludo’s alleged imposition of a ₦50 million campaign fee, which she claimed was designed to stifle other candidates.

Ifemeludike highlighted her youth-focused campaign, which includes a talent engagement initiative to empower Anambra’s creative sector.

Across party lines, opposition voices are uniting in rejecting Soludo’s assertion of invincibility.

They argue that the people of Anambra deserve a competitive, transparent, and impactful election not one clouded by political arrogance or institutional suppression.
