The remarks statement was contained in a release signed by its National Coordinator, Danladi Luka Ishiaku, and National Secretary, Basiru Usman Wakili.
The group said Atiku’s comments were misleading and an attempt to distort historical facts about Jonathan’s political journey and leadership record.
It defended Goodluck Jonathan, noting that he rose through all levels of governance, including Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice President, Acting President, and President, describing his career path as one of the most complete in Nigeria’s democratic history.
AMUNR stated that Jonathan’s administration recorded significant milestones, including economic rebasing, reforms in the power sector, and renewed investments in infrastructure and agriculture.
The group also praised Jonathan’s 2015 election concession, describing it as a landmark moment that strengthened Nigeria’s democracy and earned international respect.
According to AMUNR, the AMUNR blasts Atiku Jonathan remarks controversy reflects what it called repeated attempts to rewrite political history for personal advantage.
It accused Atiku of failing to achieve his long-standing presidential ambition, arguing that his repeated party switches reflect political impatience rather than leadership consistency.
The group added that Jonathan’s record should not be dismissed, insisting that his legacy remains tied to democratic stability and national progress.
AMUNR maintained that leadership should be judged by performance in office rather than repeated attempts to attain power.

It concluded that no amount of political revisionism would diminish Jonathan’s record in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
