Governor Adeleke Endorses President Tinubu for 2027

Governor Ademola Adeleke endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027, pledging unwavering support despite local government tensions in Osun State

Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election, pledging active participation despite ongoing disputes over local government control in Osun State.

Adeleke made the declaration during a meeting with his cabinet, special advisers, and top government and party officials at the Government House, Osogbo.

His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the governor’s stance in a statement on Tuesday.

“We have no problem with President Tinubu. He is our leader. He represents the South West. I restate our endorsement of Mr. President for re-election in the best interest of the South West,” Adeleke said.

The governor expressed appreciation to residents of Osun for supporting his policies after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party in December 2025, noting that the party’s influence continues to grow nationally.

“Osun has become yellow, and this is even spreading beyond the state. Our local chapters are organising weekly activities that are attracting thousands of participants,” he added.

Adeleke’s backing comes amid a prolonged political dispute with the All Progressives Congress over the control of local government councils following the October 2022 elections under former governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

The governor clarified that his support for Tinubu reflects the president’s representation of the South West region and is not affected by local political tensions.
