The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Femi Awogboro, one of Adelabu’s media aides, who said the abduction occurred in the early hours of the day.
According to the statement, the victims were taken around 7:30am while John-Paul was on her way to drop her children at school in the city.
The abductors were also said to have forcefully taken the twin boys, identified as Peter and Paul, who were with their mother at the time of the incident.
Awogboro described John-Paul as the youngest of the five children of Olufunmilayo Adelabu, noting her professional background and recent retirement from the banking sector.
He said she had previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before retiring and relocating to Ibadan with her children.
Following the incident, he said security agencies had been alerted and had already commenced investigations into the abduction.
He added that efforts were ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of those responsible.
The family appealed for calm, urging members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could hinder rescue operations.
They also called on anyone with useful information to assist security agencies in their investigation.
