SDP candidate Adewole Adebayo says Nigerians are tired of Tinubu’s government, describing the administration as disastrous and Nigeria’s situation as critical
The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Adewole Adebayo, has claimed that Nigerians are tired of President Bola Tinubu and what he described as the administration’s failed government.

Adebayo made the comment on Tuesday while speaking during an interview with Trust TV, where he assessed the state of the country and the prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The SDP candidate said Nigeria was in a critical and dangerous situation, which he attributed partly to what he described as a lack of trustworthy authority.
“Nigerians are tired of Tinubu and his failed government. He has taken the cake in terms of disastrous government,” Adebayo said.
He compared the current political situation with the events leading to the 2015 presidential election, when Nigerians voted out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after years of its claim that it would remain in power for decades.
According to Adebayo, many Nigerians were dissatisfied with the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan at the time and embraced the promise of change.
He, however, argued that the government that succeeded Jonathan under former President Muhammadu Buhari performed worse than the previous administration.
“At the end of the day, the government that came under Muhammadu Buhari was worse than that of Jonathan, and of course, Tinubu has taken the cake in terms of disastrous government,” he said.
Adebayo also reflected on the ambitions of politicians seeking the presidency, arguing that the desire to lead the country often comes with a strong sense of ego.
“Politicians are vicious people. That is why everybody wants to be president. So when you have ambition, you can expect that ego is also involved,” he said.
He added that anyone who wakes up with the ambition of becoming Nigeria’s president must possess a degree of ego.
“For someone to wake up in the morning and say, ‘I want to be president of Nigeria,’ he must have a bit of ego,” Adebayo said.

His comments come as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
