ADC Expels Kaduna Deputy Chairman, Eight Others

ADC expels Kaduna Deputy Chairman and eight top officials for misconduct and forgery. Party says move restores order amid deepening internal crisis.

ADC expels Kaduna Deputy Chairman Ahmed Mustapha and eight other senior officials over what the party calls gross misconduct, insubordination, and attempts to hijack its leadership structure in the state.

The sweeping expulsions, described by insiders as “a necessary purge,” followed an emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) on Wednesday in Kaduna.

Those affected include the State Publicity Secretary Idris Musa, Vice Chairman (Zone 1) Sulaiman Abdullahi, Treasurer Gambo Sani, Financial Secretary Magaji Maiwada, Legal Adviser Danlami Dabai Musa, and others.

The SEC resolution accused the expelled officials of convening unauthorised meetings, forging party documents, and extorting funds from unsuspecting members—a direct breach of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) constitution.

At a post-meeting press conference, State Chairman Elder Patrick Ambut said the party would no longer tolerate activities that jeopardise its unity and image.

“These actions threaten the lawful operation of the ADC, not just in Kaduna but across the North-West,” Ambut stated. “No member is above the constitution.”

Ambut further accused Mustapha of impersonation and abuse of office, alleging that he issued illegal directives and convened unauthorised meetings in a bid to usurp control.

Ambut affirmed that the decision to expel the officials followed due process and was endorsed by the SEC, local government chairmen, and party stakeholders.

“As a party that values transparency and discipline, we’ve acted within our constitutional rights. The integrity of the ADC must be protected at all costs,” he said.

To prevent any leadership vacuum, the SEC appointed Alex Tagwai, the current Deputy State Publicity Secretary, to serve as Acting Publicity Secretary pending further executive adjustments.

“Mr Tagwai assumes the role immediately to maintain the party’s communication flow and public engagement,” Ambut said.

He urged members to remain calm, loyal, and law-abiding while warning that any further acts of sabotage would be met with swift disciplinary action.
