Abiodun Promises Tinubu Two Million Votes From Ogun

Dapo Abiodun promises Tinubu two million votes from Ogun State in 2027 as transport unions endorse Senator Solomon Adeola for governor

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has pledged to mobilise at least two million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, saying he has personally assured the president of massive electoral support from the state.

Abiodun made the declaration in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during the endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, by the Ogun State Transport Unions Alliance for the state’s governorship election.

The governor expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, urging residents to turn out in large numbers to support the president at the polls.

According to Abiodun, he had told Tinubu that Ogun State would deliver a minimum of two million votes for him in 2027.

“I have threatened Mr President, how did I threaten him? I said Mr President, on behalf of all the sons and daughters of Ogun State, we will give you a minimum of two million votes,” the governor said.

The governor called on supporters to mobilise their families and communities ahead of the election, arguing that the large turnout at the endorsement event demonstrated the strength of the political movement backing the president.

He estimated that between 8,000 and 10,000 people attended the gathering and suggested that their family members could further increase the number of potential voters supporting Tinubu.

“We will vote and he will be elected,” Abiodun said, expressing confidence that the president would secure another term.

He also urged residents to come out en masse on election day with their spouses and children to cast their votes.

“On January 16, we will defeat them, come out en masse, bring out your wives, bring out your children and vote for President Tinubu,” he said.

The date cited by the governor was not independently clarified in the report.

Abiodun’s remarks came as the Ogun State Transport Unions Alliance endorsed Senator Adeola for governor, signalling support for his anticipated governorship bid.

Adeola, widely known as Yayi, is a serving senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District.

The endorsement event brought together supporters and transport union members, providing a platform for the governor to rally backing for Tinubu and other candidates aligned with his political camp.

Abiodun also called for support for candidates seeking legislative seats, saying the political mobilisation should extend beyond the presidential contest.

The governor’s two-million-vote pledge sets an ambitious target for the president’s re-election campaign in Ogun State, although the eventual outcome will depend on voter participation and the results declared at the polls.
