Abiodun Assures Smooth Transition From Governor to Successor

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed confidence that God will guide Ogun State through a smooth leadership transition from his administration to the incoming government.

Abiodun made the remarks during an interfaith religious gathering where Christian and Muslim participants joined in prayers and scripture readings for the state and its future leadership.

“God of 2018 is still around, and He will continue to allow us to embark on a smooth transition from a sitting governor to the incoming governor,” Abiodun said.

The governor’s remarks reflected his appeal for continued stability and peaceful political succession in Ogun State as the state prepares for a change in leadership.

The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, also participated in the religious proceedings, reading passages from the Book of Second Chronicles, chapters 17 to 20.

The passages formed part of the broader interfaith proceedings, which brought together participants from different religious backgrounds.

Pastor J.T. Kalejaye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God delivered a message centred on the importance of good leadership and responsible governance.

Kalejaye urged the people to reject evil, seek God’s guidance and remain committed to the pursuit of victory and progress.

According to the cleric, good leadership remained essential for the people to achieve greater development and improve the wellbeing of the state.

The religious gathering also reflected Ogun’s interfaith character, with Muslim representation at the event.

Mrs Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, the All Progressives Congress deputy governorship candidate, participated in the session by reading verses from the Holy Quran.

Her participation alongside Christian leaders and other participants underscored the interfaith dimension of the proceedings and the emphasis placed on prayers for the state’s future.

Abiodun’s reference to 2018 appeared to draw on the circumstances surrounding his emergence as governor-elect during the 2019 election cycle, when the APC won the Ogun governorship election.

The governor has since led the state through two terms, with his administration placing emphasis on infrastructure, economic development and other areas of public administration.

As the state looks towards the next phase of political leadership, the call for a peaceful transition has remained part of the wider conversation around continuity and governance.

The interfaith proceedings therefore combined religious reflection with a message about leadership, stability and the future of Ogun State.

With Christian and Muslim representatives taking part, the gathering also highlighted the role of faith communities in encouraging peaceful coexistence and responsible leadership.

For Abiodun, the central message was one of confidence that the transition can take place peacefully, with continued faith and collective commitment to the interests of Ogun State.
