Abba Yusuf 2027 running mate confirmed as Deputy Governor Murtala Garo, with the Kano governor praising his loyalty and performance
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has confirmed Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Galadima Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, saying the decision reflects confidence in his deputy’s loyalty, competence and performance in office.

Governor Yusuf made the announcement on Monday during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees serving under President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor said the decision followed Garo’s contributions to the administration and his commitment to advancing the state’s development agenda since taking office.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” Yusuf said.
The governor also passed a vote of confidence in Garo, describing him as a dependable deputy who has demonstrated competence, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility in supporting the administration’s policies and programmes.
The Abba Yusuf 2027 running mate announcement comes as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the next general election, with parties and elected officials beginning to outline their strategies and consolidate support.
Yusuf urged party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united as his administration focuses on delivering its mandate while preparing for the 2027 governorship contest.
