According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the meeting took place on Monday, January 19, 2026, and was described as a “strategic engagement” aimed at strengthening Kano State’s partnership with the Federal Government.

Governor Yusuf said discussions centred on the growing security challenges in Kano, particularly the recent killing of a housewife and her children, which he described as “deeply disturbing.”

He called for urgent federal intervention to protect lives and property in the state.

The governor also advocated deeper collaboration between the state and federal security agencies, stressing the need for improved intelligence sharing, coordination and operational effectiveness.

On infrastructure, Yusuf expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road project, describing it as critical to boosting commercial activities and improving connectivity within Kano State.

He emphasised the importance of ensuring Kano benefits fully from federal programmes and investments, noting that infrastructure development remains key to economic growth and social stability.
