Troubling Peter Obi criticism hits APC government

Peter Obi criticism intensifies as he accuses the APC government of provoking party conflicts while failing to address worsening insecurity

According to a statement posted on his verified X handle, Mr Peter Obi delivered a troubling assessment of the country’s leadership, issuing a forceful Peter Obi criticism aimed squarely at President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Obi accused the government of prioritising political scheming over the urgent duty of securing lives and property.

He argued that those in power appear more interested in fuelling internal crises within opposition parties than confronting the escalating wave of kidnappings and terror attacks.

He referenced a recent remark by former United States President Donald Trump, who described Nigeria as now disgraced.

Obi said many Nigerians were outraged at the comment but questioned whether it could still be dismissed given recent tragic events.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate cited the abduction of 25 people and the killing of a general and several officers within one week.

He also condemned a fresh attack in Kwara State, calling it another sign of the country’s declining security.

Obi stressed that at a time when unity is desperately needed, the political space is instead consumed by conflicts and distractions.

He claimed that the crises engulfing the PDP, Labour Party, SDP and other political groups are being stoked deliberately by the government to weaken the opposition.

Recalling a moment under President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, he said the late leader instructed the INEC chairman to preserve stability within every political party, insisting that democracy thrives when all parties are allowed to operate lawfully.

Obi lamented that the reverse appears true today, adding that democracy demands respect for opposition voices, credible elections and governance that carries everyone along. He closed his message by reaffirming his vision that a new Nigeria remains possible.
