Sule Lamido Threatens Legal Action Over PDP Form

Sule Lamido threatens legal action after being denied access to purchase PDP National Chairman nomination form ahead of November 2025 convention

Former Jigawa State Governor and PDP chieftain, Sule Lamido, has threatened to take legal action against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after being denied access to purchase a National Chairman nomination form ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Lamido, speaking with journalists in Abuja, revealed that attempts to obtain the form were unsuccessful, citing National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu and National Organising Secretary Umar Bature as involved in the issue.

“I went to the office of the National Organising Secretary… Both of them said they had no idea where the forms are, not even how they were printed or the kind of forms they are,” Lamido said.

The PDP had earlier agreed during its 102nd National Executive Committee meeting in August to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South while allocating the National Chairman position to the North.

Northern leaders later micro-zoned the chairmanship to the North-West and endorsed former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), as the consensus candidate.

Lamido’s supporters, reportedly loyal to him, expressed dissatisfaction with the endorsement process, claiming they were not consulted. Meanwhile, Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike is said to back former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom for the same position.

Lamido stressed that, according to the party constitution, sales of nomination forms should occur at the PDP headquarters, adding that the locked offices prevented him from obtaining his form. He insists on being granted access to ensure a transparent and fair process.
