Rotary District 9112 Strengthens Polio Vaccination Efforts with Protective Gear Donation

Rotary District 9112 donates raincoats and boots to Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board to protect frontline workers in polio vaccination efforts

Lagos, Nigeria — Rotary District 9112 has donated 100 rain boots and 200 raincoats to the Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board (LSPHCB) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the global End Polio Now campaign and support frontline health workers.

The donation took place at the office of the Permanent Secretary, LSPHCB, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.

The rain gear will assist vaccination teams navigating challenging terrains, especially during the rainy season.

Dr Ibrahim Mustafa, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board, expressed deep gratitude for Rotary’s partnership.

“This support aligns perfectly with government efforts to eradicate polio,” he said. “Rotary International has always been a leading force in this fight, and these items will help our teams operate more effectively during the rainy season.”

Representing the Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee chairman, Past District Governor Joshua Hassan, PDG Yomi Adewunmi stated the donation, valued at approximately N1.6 million, underscores Rotary’s commitment to combating mutant poliovirus in Lagos.

“We appreciate Lagos State Government’s continued cooperation and support in the polio eradication efforts,” Adewunmi added.

District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rtn Lanre Adedoyin, reaffirmed the group’s unwavering dedication to wiping out polio.

“Our commitment is absolute,” he declared. “We will work closely with Lagos State Government and partners until polio is eradicated in Nigeria and globally. Today’s donation strengthens our shared vision for a polio-free nation and world.”
