The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi has issued a stern warning and called for urgent, coordinated action to address the growing menace.

Addressing journalists after a stakeholders’ meeting in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, Chiroman Kabi, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed-Mera, voiced the party’s alarm over recent attacks, including an incident in Argungu where thugs allegedly assaulted mourners at a mosque during a wedding Fatiha.

Mohammed-Mera condemned the violence in the strongest terms and criticised political leaders who support or finance such acts, declaring that Kebbi was “no longer safe.”

He also recalled the tragic killing of a Nigerian soldier in Sakaba, emphasising the deteriorating security situation.

“The alarming rise in insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes, has left communities traumatised, farmlands deserted, and economic activities in sharp decline,” he said. “This situation threatens the peace Kebbi has long been known for.”

The ADC urged both state and federal governments, alongside security agencies, to implement immediate, intelligence-driven measures to restore law and order.

“The safety and welfare of the people must remain paramount,” Mohammed-Mera stressed.

Describing the ADC as a “growing and expanding party” committed to democratic principles, he lamented the use of intimidation, blackmail, and violence by some political actors, warning that these actions undermine democratic norms and the integrity of the political process.
