Edo State 34th anniversary marked by Governor Okpebholo’s praise for founding fathers, resilience of people, and call for unity and sustainable development
Edo State 34th anniversary celebrations were marked by Governor Monday Okpebholo’s heartfelt tribute to the state’s founding fathers and past leaders.

On Wednesday, the governor commended their vision and sacrifices, which have laid a strong foundation for Edo’s growth over the past 34 years.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Okpebholo also applauded the resilience and indomitable spirit of Edo people both at home and abroad, describing it as “unique and irreplaceable.”
“This is not just a celebration of a date, but a moment to reflect on our journey, acknowledge our achievements, and recommit ourselves to building a prosperous and developed Edo State,” the governor said.
Okpebholo highlighted the state’s strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development, while acknowledging ongoing challenges.
Reflecting on Edo’s rich heritage, he said, “From the ancient Benin Kingdom, we inherited a legacy of art, culture, and governance.
We have built on this foundation, and today, Edo State stands as a beacon of progress and potential.
The governor used the occasion to call for unity across all political and ethnic lines, stressing that the future of Edo depends on collective effort.
“The task of building the Edo of our dreams is a collective responsibility. I call on every Edo son and daughter to join hands with my administration in transforming our state,” he urged.
Reaffirming his administration’s focus, Okpebholo pledged to prioritize job creation, improved security, and sustainable development, promising transparency and accountability.
“As we celebrate this 34th anniversary, let us renew our hope and commitment to a brighter future.
With God on our side and our collective effort, Edo State will reach even greater heights,” he concluded.
