Personal Income Tax Calculator Nigeria 2026 Launched by Tinubu to Ensure Fairness

Personal Income Tax Calculator Nigeria 2026 launched by Tinubu helps citizens estimate new tax liabilities under upcoming reforms and promotes fairness

Personal Income Tax Calculator Nigeria 2026 is now live, following an official announcement from President Bola Tinubu, who urged Nigerians to use the new tool to understand how recent tax reforms will affect their earnings starting January 2026.

In a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, August 22, 2025, President Tinubu said the tool enables citizens to estimate their income tax liabilities under the upcoming reforms and compare them with current rates.

“A fair tax system must never punish poverty or weigh down the most vulnerable,” Tinubu wrote, emphasizing that the reforms aim to foster equity, fairness, and economic redistribution.

The calculator is available at [fiscalreforms.ng](https://fiscalreforms.ng/index.php/pit-calculator/) and is designed to:

  • Estimate how much an individual would pay in personal income tax
  • Highlight differences between current rates and 2026 reforms
  • Emphasize tax progressivity, meaning higher earners contribute more
  • Simplify compliance for all categories of earners

The tool also supports the administration’s broader goal of building public trust in the Nigerian tax system by offering clarity and predictability.

The new tax laws, signed by President Tinubu earlier in 2025, are part of a broader fiscal reform agenda aimed at:

  • Reducing the tax burden on low-income earners
  • Improving transparency and compliance
  • Strengthening non-oil revenue through fair taxation
  • Promoting economic inclusivity

Tinubu stressed that “these reforms protect low-income earners” and are not intended to burden citizens but rather create a tax environment that works for everyone, from the grassroots to the top earners.
